Prayer for the Gaines's

In his letter to the church in Corinth, Paul wrote, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Cor 1:3-4).

Recently, we were made aware that Steve Gaines, husband of Donna Gaines, a member of the Cooperation Group, has been diagnosed with kidney cancer.

As the Cooperation Group nears the end of our Research Phase, we recognize that no research is necessary to understand the value the Southern Baptist Convention brings in connecting churches across our nation, offering us the chance to "weep with those who weep" (Rom 12:15).

As Paul reminded the church in Corinth, "if one member suffers, all suffer together" (1 Cor 12:26). Guided by this spirit, the Cooperation Group invites all Southern Baptists to join us as we join Bellevue Baptist on Sunday, December 3 “to pray and commit to fast from one meal or for the entire day" to cover the Gaines family in prayer as they face their recent medical diagnosis.

Bellevue has prepared a prayer guide with Scripture to consider reading during your time of prayer and fasting.
